"JOIN THE GAME, JOIN THE FAMILY"
ABOUT OUR CLUB
The club was formed in 1997 with a handful of members. We have had various locations over the club's history and now enjoy a permanent site at Nesca Park, The Hill, Newcastle. We are fortunate to have a 20-year lease on this site courtesy of the goodwill and support of the Newcastle City Council.
In 2001, driven by the urgency of hosting the first Australian Masters Games in Newcastle, we built our clubhouse with the support and expertise of the Cessnock Correctional Centre. The building was completed a day before the start of the Games!
Over the years we have continued to host various Masters Games, NSW and Australian titles and other events that have supported charitable causes and celebrated specific events.
We were also awarded a world record! In 2004, a Guinness World Record was achieved through a marathon of a few members playing for 28 hours non-stop. They raised over $6,000 for Ronald McDonald House at John Hunter Hospital in the process.
Our club members have achieved many successes including past and present NSW and Australian representatives and many State and National titles.
The club is now the largest pétanque club in NSW and one of the largest in Australia.
ADMINISTRATION OF THE CLUB
The club is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation, administered by a member-elected management committee, in accordance with the model guidelines of the NSW Department of Fair Trading. An Annual General Meeting is held in January each year whereupon an audited annual financial statement is presented for adoption and reported to the NSW Office of Fair Trading.
Monthly Committee meetings are held and information is communicated regularly to members either directly or via email. Ad hoc member meetings are called when necessary.
CLUB FACILITES AND EQUIPMENT
The club has 16 marked pistes across 2 playing surfaces, basic kitchen facilities, toilets (including a disabled toilet), outdoor furniture, BBQ facilities etc. Practice boules are also available.
We provide a range of beverages and some snacks, all priced very reasonably. The Club uses money raised from all sales for the benefit of members.
Member access to the club for other functions can be arranged through the committee.
Members can purchase new boules and other pétanque equipment as well as clothing through the Club Committee. Small quantities are kept in stock.
